Bureau meeting April 24th 2024

08.07.2024

Koen Hermans, Director of Remuneration, Benefits and International Mobility and Director of Group Employee Relations, welcomes the members of the secretariat to this preparatory office for the 1st plenary meeting outside France since Covid. The month of April is marked by the publication of the 2023 integrated report and by the Group's Annual General Meeting.
Etienne Bouas-Laurent, CEO of AXA Belgium, presents the results and strategy of AXA in Belgium, Els Jan, HR Director of AXA in Belgium, presents the ambitions of the HR strategy and its articulation with the business strategy of the company and Cécile Pantais, Group Anti-Corruption and Compliance Officer of GIE AXA, presents an update of the Group's Code of Ethics and Compliance.

Presentation of AXA Belgium

Etienne Bouas-Laurent highlights the company's sales growth, after losing market share in recent years. He also points out that Belgium will be spared by natural disasters in 2023, which will enable the company to make a significant contribution to the Group's earnings, with a substantial cash inflow. He noted that AXA Belgium's customer NPS would catch up with the market in 2021 and would continue to grow, but that the eNPS would remain low, due to the high level of employee expectations. He presented the three ACT axes of the company's strategy, focusing on accelerating growth, forging closer ties with customers and brokers, and transforming the business through technology. Etienne Bouas-Laurent reminds us of the importance of rediscovering an entrepreneurial spirit and placing the customer at the centre of our strategy.

AXA Belgium's HR strategy

AXA Belgium's HR strategy, presented by Els Jan, aims to meet the needs of the strategic plan by supporting employees to meet future challenges. The HR teams analysed the demographic data and implemented a common analysis method based on seven angles of view, cross-referencing the data with feedback from the field. Specific and global action plans have been drawn up for each department. The strategy has three strands: 'sourcing and branding' to attract the right profiles, 'skills & careers path' to make employees resilient, and 'workforce plan & retention' to manage employee mobility. AXA Belgium is focusing on training, teleworking, talent retention and support for seniors. The company is working to change its recruitment culture and plans to set up an internal academy. Specific measures have been put in place to support people returning to the office, and social dialogue has been re-established.

Update on the compliance code

Cecile Pantais explained the changes made to the AXA Compliance and Ethics Code to include environmental and human rights protection aspects. The new version of the code will be published in the 3rd quarter of 2024, with the aim of publishing it at Group level. Questions were raised about the protection of employees against external harassment, the legal costs of employees who are victims of harassment, the assimilation of the code by employees, and the sanctions incurred in the event of non-compliance with the code. It should be noted that the seriousness and intentionality of the misconduct are taken into account in the sanctions, and that proportionality remains a key element in these situations. In addition, the Group's CEO, Thomas Buberl, expressed strong support for employees who are victims of external harassment at the Annual General Meeting.
