Plenary June 2024

12.08.2024

At this first plenary outside Paris since the Covid crisis, EWC Chairman Thomas BUBERL talks about the current and future challenges facing the Group, before taking part in a question-and-answer session with European Works Council delegates.

Thomas BUBERL welcomed Pascale RAULINE to her new role on the EWC and wished her every success. He reiterated his attachment to the Group's European Works Council and stressed the importance of these exchanges. He then reviewed AXA's ability to manage a complex environment, in particular the difficult geopolitical and macroeconomic environment, with attractive mid-year growth of 3%, rising profits, the Group's diversification in its business lines, its geographical presence and its solid balance sheet.

Thomas BUBERL also welcomes the positive effects of changes within the AXA Group, such as the simplification of the company and its strategic repositioning, with a focus on accelerating growth, investment in artificial intelligence to improve processes and services, and commitment to the climate transition and social inclusion.

Pascale RAULINE pointed out that this was the first plenary meeting of the new team following the January by-elections.

The work of this new team is part of a continuity, with the objective of quality social dialogue in a calm social climate. In particular, it is working on preventing incivilities and harassment of employees by customers, and monitoring the implementation of the charter to support employees aged 50 and over.

Koen Hermans gave delegates an update on AXA Europe and Healthcare, and then raised employee representatives' awareness of the various forms of violence.

Patrick COHEN, Chief Executive Officer of AXA Europe and Health, presented AXA's strategy and challenges in the field of health in Europe, underlining the importance of the European insurance market and AXA's key role in this field, particularly in the face of challenges linked to climate change, demographics and health.

Tilly PRIDE, Head of Human Resources and Communications for AXA Europe and Health, highlights the efforts made by teams to improve employee engagement, notably through initiatives such as ‘Health One’ and ‘AXA On Stage’.

As part of the ‘We Care’ programme, the Director of Culture, Inclusion and Diversity, Kirsty LEIVERS, and Dr Alison GREGORY, a consultant and expert specialising in domestic, intra-family and sexual violence, are presenting an awareness-raising session on the various forms of violence.

The aim of this initiative is to familiarise the CEG's elected representatives with these complex and little-known mechanisms and to help them adopt the right reflexes to act, react and welcome the distress of victims.

The meeting was also marked by the election of a new member of the EWC Board, under the aegis of Élodie BATOUT-BADAIRE, the Group's Deputy Head of Employee Relations. Christophe CHAUMONT was elected.
